The James White Award is a short story competition open to non-professional writers and is decided by an international panel of judges made up of professional authors and editors.

The administrators had to invoke rule 21, and this year no award has been awarded.

We appreciate all those who have entered, and hope that they continue to enter in future awards.

We will announce details for the next award as soon as they are arranged.

The James White Award was instituted to honour the memory of one of Ireland's most successful science fiction authors, James White. To learn more about James White and his writing, visit SectorGeneral.com.

Congratulations to Jennifer Harwood-Smith for winning the 2006 James White Award with her story The Faces of My Friends.

The James White Award is not affiliated or connected with the Hugo Awards presented by the World Science Fiction Society.
